My Very Own Website!

With my progressing journey as an actor, I have loved getting involved with various performances - some which were live, filmed and a mix of both! Using the website creator WIX to my advantage, I now have the opportunity to display my work within a personal digital portfolio. WIX has allowed me to broaden my own experiences to an online audience - keeping up to date with the modern technology within the acting world!

Through creating my first website and gaining crucial feedback from my tutor, I decided to forge a fresh website with updated content and more styles and formatting that truly represents myself with my development as an actor. One example of this is the use of colour scheme theory.

In my initial website, I involved just two shades of neon purple, as this was my favourite colour at the time and to bring brightness and for it to feel inviting. My tutor gave me feedback to be more adventurous with shades, and so highlighting gradients of greens and skin tones stands for my personality of feeling grounded and earthy.

I have also changed my classic fancy-styled fonts to the style of bubble fonts in my new website. This can illustrate my playful and imaginative mindset in my recent projects, as I have expanded my range of acting styles and genres - usually feeling confident in Comedic performances - from my passion of Musical Theatre.

In terms of my strengths in fabricating my website, I loved the process of making my show reel. With previous learning of editing skills in my A Level Music Tech course, I developed my skills by familiarising myself with multiple editing softwares such as apps called Canva and iMovie. Whilst Canva allowed me to form unique subtitles to name my specific moments of performance, iMovie was helpful in spicing, cropping, and transitioning from one piece of my work to another.

Another skill I have developed is my confidence with exploring alternative genres to what I already knew. Knowing that I intended to have a dynamic stretch of pieces on my website allowed me to push myself in getting involved with new genres such as horror, naturalistic pieces and more. Having confidence in various content of performance allows me to broaden my opportunities in the future as an actor.

A weakness that I recognised is the formatting options within WIX. With only owning an iPad, I was restricted in moving photos, videos and textboxes which are easier on devices such as a computer. To overcome this within future development of my website, I plan to work both with my iPad and a computer to gain full access to the formatting options.
